Home Performance & Quality Installation

Everyone would like to think that their home is energy efficient. However, more than likely, there is room for improvement. So how do you know if your home is performing as it should? How much money could you save by making a few key energy-efficiency improvements? There are no- and low-cost home energy audit options for you to pinpoint your home’s energy wasters and discover which energy-efficiency upgrades make the most sense for you.

Do-it-yourself home energy audit
The free My Home Comfort Check Up will help you identify your home’s energy wasters and learn how to improve your home’s energy efficiency. For your convenience, two formats are available: an interactive Web site or a convenient mail-in survey.

Professional home energy audit
In this more in-depth analysis of your home’s energy efficiency, an energy expert will come to your home and inspect your home top-to-bottom, pinpointing energy inefficiencies. You will get a detailed report recommending the energy-efficiency upgrades that will benefit you most. Your energy expert may even install some energy-efficiency measures, like low-flow showerheads, compact fluorescent light bulbs or a water heater wrap, on the spot for free. The no- or low-cost Home Energy Audit is available to Alliant Energy’s Iowa and Minnesota residential customers. The Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® audit is available to Alliant Energy’s Wisconsin residential customers.

Quality installation
You’ve decided to invest in an energy-efficient heating and cooling system. However, if you don’t make sure that your contractor is committed to quality installation – where to install your system, duct sealing, thermostat placement and more – your energy savings could be greatly reduced.
